Myofascial Movement and Meditation Series

Our bodies are wrapped in a vast and continuous matrix of connective tissue called fascia. In recent years, movement therapists and anatomists have identified a number of pathways that run through our bodies, connecting specific groups of muscles, ligaments, and tendons and crossing multiple bones and joints. Developing an awareness of these internal pathways can lead to a deeper understanding of our bodies and help us make wise and conscious decisions about how we are moving, holding, and caring for them on a daily basis. Through myofascial release (self-massage), meditative movement, and with support from visual presentations, this series of workshops will help you develop a clear felt-sense of our own unique fascial bodies. We’ll learn to lengthen and tone our myofascial pathways so we can move toward more easeful, optimal and balanced alignment in both movement and stillness. Movement instructors will learn to read bodies so they can better support themselves and their students with a wise movement practice. All levels are welcome. More information and reserve your spot.

Myofascial Movement + Meditation: The Arm Lines

Join Katie for an afternoon of myofascial release and meditative movement. This workshop will focus on the four layers of connective tissue and muscle that run through the arms, making it possible for us to interact with, manipulate, and respond to the world around us using our hands and arms. When out of balance, the arm lines can contribute to shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand problems like carpal tunnel, elbow and shoulder impingements, chronic muscular pain in the neck and shoulers and more. Myofascial Movement + Meditation: Exploring the Spiral Lines

Join Katie for an afternoon of myofascial release and meditative movement. TThis workshop will focus on the Spiral Line (SPL)—a double helix-shaped pathway of muscle and fascia that links the body from head to toe and supports us with movements like walking, twisting, turning the head, and helps to maintain balance across all plains. When out of balance, the spiral line can create, compensate for, and maintain twists, rotations and lateral shifts in the body. More information and reserve your spot.

Myofascial Movement + Meditation: The Deep Front Line

Join Katie for an afternoon of myofascial release and meditative movement. This workshop will focus on the Deep Front Line (DFL)—a deep continuity of muscles and connective tissue that make up our myofascial core. Running from the sole of our feet to the root of our tongue, the DFL provides core alignment and stability and makes it possible for us to move through the world with grace, stability, ease, and agility. Lack of proper balance and tone along the DFL can lead to foot, knee, hip, or back pain and a collapsed pelvic and/or spinal core. Information & registration.
