Our bodies are wrapped in a vast and continuous matrix of connective tissue called fascia. In recent years, movement therapists have identified a number of myofascial pathways that run through our bodies, connecting specific groups of muscles, ligaments, and tendons and crossing multiple bones and joints. Repetitive movement, poor postural patterns, and past injury can lead to imbalance along these myofascial lines which can result in new injury, decreased range of motion in our joints, and chronic pain.

This workshop will focus on the Spiral Line (SPL)—a double helix-shaped pathway of muscle and fascia that links the body from head to toe and supports us with movements like walking, twisting, turning the head, and helps to maintain balance across all plains. When out of balance, the spiral line can create, compensate for, and maintain twists, rotations and lateral shifts in the body.

Through myofascial release (self-massage), meditative movement, and with support from a visual presentation, we will develop a clear felt-sense of our own unique fascial bodies and learn to move through the world with an increased sense of grace, ease, balance, and stability.
