Our bodies are wrapped in a vast and continuous matrix of connective tissue called fascia. In recent years, movement therapists have identified a number of myofascial pathways that run through our bodies, connecting specific groups of muscles, ligaments, and tendons and crossing multiple bones and joints. Repetitive movement, poor postural patterns, and past injury can lead to imbalance along these myofascial lines which can result in new injury, decreased range of motion in our joints, and chronic pain.

This workshop will focus on the Deep Front Line (DFL)—a deep continuity of muscles and connective tissue that make up our myofascial core. Running from the sole of our feet to the root of our tongue, the DFL provides core alignment and stability and makes it possible for us to move through the world with grace, stability, ease, and agility. Lack of proper balance and tone along the DFL can lead to foot, knee, hip, or back pain and a collapsed pelvic and/or spinal core.

Through myofascial release (self-massage), meditative movement, and with support from a visual presentation, we will develop a clear felt-sense of our own unique fascial bodies. We’ll learn to lengthen and tone this deep myofascial pathway so we can move toward a more easeful, optimal and balanced alignment in both movement and stillness. All levels of students are welcome.

All levels of students are welcome. 3 CEUs through Yoga Alliance available for yoga instructors.
